Bad habits: He seems to be prone to breaking parts of his body. He has broken three of his ribs (one from falling of a horse, training for the Lord of the Rings), his nose, both his legs, his arm his wrist, a finger and a tow, cracked is skull three times, and broke his back falling three stories from a friends window. He spent 12 months in the hospital and the doctors said he might never walk again, but then he had surgery and walked out of the hospital on crutches.

He also used to smoke but quit in 2002, which caused him to start biting his nails.

- It really is Orlando who is firing those arrows in ”The Lord of the Rings”, he trained very hard and very long, he got so good that when his instructor threw a plate up in the air Orlando could hit it.
- One of the reasons why he got the part in ”The Lord of the Rings” was because of his pretty face and agile body that reminded of an elf.
- Orlando has stayed away from girls after his (former) best friend André Schneider stole his girlfriend, actress Joanna Morley, but she left him for André.
- Orlando's father Harry Bloom fought against the apartheid regime in South Africa, his efforts even resulted in him spending some time in prison. He was also a talented novelist who won great acclaim for his books Episode In The Transvaal and the boxing story King Kong. Latter the family fled to Britain and had Orlando, a few years latter, in 1981 Harry passed away. "Harry was a great man," says Orlando. "It was as though he'd done his job and he left the world."
- It was recently revealed that Orlando's surname belongs to a man who is not his biological father. Harry Bloom, who died when Orlando was 4, and Colin Stone, a close family friend, was appointed his legal guardian. Nine years later, Orlando learned that Stone was his biological father. "I grew up with [Harry Bloom] as a role model and that has never changed," Bloom, now 26, said through his rep. "Having Colin in my life, I never felt the absence of a father. In actual fact, I had two amazing men to look up to."
- Orlando is no longer a vegetarian, he says that he has given up on vegetarianism after learning that one steak a week will apparently ease his back pain. Orlando has been battling back pains ever since a nasty fall and he now swears by his weekly intake of cow. 'I'm never ill now', he claims. He still stay's away from dairy products.
- His father named him after the hero/heroine of Virginia Woolf's novel "Orlando", because he thought everyone would remember it.
